I purchased this generator for occasional emergency use. as stated in another review it doesn’t come with a wheel kit and weighs about 100lbs. however, the manual that comes with gives detailed instructions on how to install the wheel kit (that doesn’t come with it). I tried contacting Eastern Tools & Equipment, first by phone and got disconnected twice. then I tried to email them — never got any answer. tried that twice. also, from Eastern Tools & Equipment website, I tried to register my generator for warranty. this produced an error message with my browser – several times. I then tried to call again. when I mentioned I didn’t get the wheel kit, I was told it didn’t come with one. I mentioned I thought that was quite odd as there were instructions to install the wheel kit in the manual. I was told it must be a misprint. I told them that seemed to be a rather large misprint, when almost an entire page is used in the manual giving detailed instructions of how to install the wheel kit. (including stating not to put oil into the generator until you install the wheel kit – the real reason I never got around to trying out my new generator. ) at that, the representative raised his voice saying, “Sir, I’m telling you it doesn’t come with a wheel kit. ” as there were other issues I had not begun to address and this small one causing such difficulty, I have decided to return the generator and hopefully find a comparable one for a decent price. don’t expect to get any customer service from Eastern Tools & Equipment if you purchase one of these and have any problems!

I was wondering what would be required to let this unit use natural gas to run. Seems like that would be a big plus.

I got this because I was sick of storing gas and having to keep replacing it to keep it fresh. Even with additives the gas degrades. I was going to get a propane conversion kit but got this generator instead. I have only ran it about 3 or four hours, so I can not say much about the longevity. But I am around a small engine repair shop a lot and by far the #1 problem are carburator problems mostly due to old gas. Propane eliminates this issue. That is why the stationary home units use propane. I had no problems with anything broken on it, as the other reviews mentioned. I fill it with oil, and it fired right up.
    – Why four stars? What do you want for $400 including shipping?
–Size/ weight: I made my own wheel kit for it out of some old wheels I picked up. It is light and small enough that it could be carried with a hand truck (dolly) or by two people with relative ease. t is reasonable quite
–Noise: It is reasonably quite. it is very much quieter then old school generators that were deafening. But it is by no means as quiet as some of the super quiet Hondas. If you are 10-15 feet away it is fine.
    – capacity I used it to run a table saw and some other stuff and it handled it. I did not have enough stuff to try and stack a full load on it, but it started the tablesaw and while that was running started a old porter cable 10″ hand saw.

I will update this after our next power outage.

Generator looks fairly well constructed. I bought this generator mainly for emergency purposes. I had a hard time starting generator(10-12 pulls). I called Eastern Tools, I was instructed to remove air box filter cover and filter, now the generator starts easily on one pull. Eastern Tools sent me a modified air box filter cover ( extra holes drilled in cover to allow more air for startup). The only other possible problem I noticed is that the choke lever seems flimsy. Propane tank seems to be a safer alternative than gasoline (less concerns over gasoline storage and staleness)

I purchased this item in mid January and received it in a reasonable period of time. Problem was it would not start and needed to be repaired. I had a hard time getting Eastern Tools to respond to requests for help. Eventually, they did respond with the name of a local repair shop that would fix the generator for me. I picked up the repaired unit today on the last day of February – about 1 1/2 months later. So, they responded to my problem and found a local repair shop, but it took along time. Beware!
My rating is based on the unit itself. It appears and feels to be reasonably well made. It weighs a little over 100 lbs. and so is a bit heavy to move without wheels. It has enough capacity to run what I need, but cannot power the whole house. It supplies only 110-115 volts, no 220-230, so cannot be used with some well pumps or appliances. Since it runs on propane it shouldn’t have the issues gasoline powered engines have after not being used for long periods of time. The emissions are supposed to be a little better than gas engines too. It is not any quieter than a typical small engine. My review is based on running it for about an hour. Time will tell.
Overall, the unit itself is fine (once it was repaired), but it was DOA and took a long time to get repaired.
